making more money gives a man a sense of satisifaction for accomplishing something that he can feel proud of.
most society also consider men as the main person to raise the family, so it is stressful for men to make enough money to raise the family, etc.
Sure we can relax but not until we have enough money to survive. The value of a man is measured in his ability to make a living and provide for his family. It is a huge societal expectation. Don't underestimate its influence.
